The Cumbria ICT Broadband Initiative, setup to campaign for affordable broadband in the county, and whose information, informed Project ACCESS and influenced its format and approach, has agreed to allocated its remaining funds to try to address the very few remaining businesses that cannot get access to broadband. At this time we know of just 133 such businesses.
A tender is being let by the County Council at this time for a supplier to provide satellite broadband to these companies. The funds will pay for installation and equipment only - clients will be expected to fund subscriptions and any special requirements they might have.
If you want to be considered for such a system please contact project ACCESS on 01768 838231.
If you wish to tender for the supply of such satellite systems please refer the the tender whcih is posted on the council's e-procurement site at https://www.thechest.nwce.gov.uk.
